If it's true that you can spot a prodigy when you see one, then 25-year-old musical maven Esperanza Spalding - bassist, vocalist, and composer - is the "sound of surprise" in an orchestra of ordinariness. One afternoon, she faced the cameras to speak about the story behind her rhythmic roots, the spontaneity of her melodic beats, and all that jazz.
